Bass Line 11 - Root 3rd 5th 6th 7th 6th 5th 3rd

11 Bass Line Root 3rd 5th 6th 7th 6th 5th 3rd mp3 wma
Drums and bass only. Approx 1 minute, 1.4mb.

Now we are really moving along. This bass line is a bit of a combination of a few of the other lessons. We are using more notes and a bit less repetition to give it a more mature sound. As with the other bass lines we've been talking about, when you can play this easily, start making up your own using variations of these notes.

The tab for bass line root 3rd 5th 6th 7th 6th 5th 3rd for each chord played on Bass Line 10 is played as follows;

Bass line over the E chord:
G|--------------------------------------------------
D|--------------------------------------------------
A|--------------------4--4--5--5--4--4--------------
E|--0--0--4--4--7--7--------------------7--7--4--4--
Chords
|---E-----------------------------------------------

Bass line over the A chord:
G|--------------------------------------------------
D|--------------------4--4--5--5--4--4--------------
A|--------4--4--7--7--------------------7--7--4--4--
E|--5--5--------------------------------------------
Chords
|---A-----------------------------------------------

Bass line over the B chord:
G|--------------------------
D|--------------------------
A|--------6--6--9--9--6--6--
E|--7--7--------------------
Chords
|---B-----------------------

The turnaround is over bars 11 and 12 and is played is as follows:
G|------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D|------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A|-------------------------------------[(7--7--7) = tied; let previous 7 play]---
E|--0--0--4--4--5--5--6--6--7--5--6--7-(7--7--7)---------------------------
Chords
|---E--------------------------B------------------------------------------------

If you aren't sure which chord is being played when, the progression is the standard blues progression that we used in Bass Lesson 01 - Blues Bass in E which is:

E E E E
A A E E
B A E B

That's all for now. Go back to the Free Jam Tracks home page and play along with the backing tracks using the bass lines from lessons 01 to 11 and use this knowledge to make up your own lines.
