Bob's Country Bunker Scale SuggestionsPlaying Mixolydian scales over each of the chords will give you a different sound to what your ear might have otherwise been expecting. The Mixolydian scale uses the same tones as the Major scale does except that the 7th degree of the scale is a b7 (flat 7th) in the Mixolydian scale. This gives it a whole different sound to playing the Major scale. Try both and hear the difference for yourself. Below is the guitar tab for the A, D and E Mixolydian scales in the same position as I was playing on the tune. 1. A Mixolidan over the A Major Chord E|---------------------------------5- 2. D Mixolidan over the D Major Chord E|---------------------------5-7-8-10- 3. E Mixolidan over the E Major Chord E|----------------------------7-9-10-12- Bob's Country Bunker Guitar TabThe intro isn't exactly flat out but it uses some pretty quick picking. 0.00 Guitar Intro (played twice) E|-------------------------------------------------------- E|-------------------------------------------------------- E|-------------------------------------------------------- 0.32 12 Bar Guitar Lick The 12 bar guitar lick below is based on the intro an octave higher with only slight variations. I slide up to the 11th from the 9th fret at the second to third note and similar in the lick. It would sound good if you picked the notes. Where's Steve Morse and the Dixie Dregs when you need them! E|--------------------------------------------------------------------------- E|------------------------------------------------------------------------------- E|--------------------------------------------------------------------- 0.48 Intro (fades out) Use the intro and the 12 bar guitar lick to come up with your own country sound. Go for maximum twang and make Bob proud. He sure would appreciate it. Jam on! |
