Cruisin at Apollo BayGuitar Backing Tracks: Bass Backing Tracks Drum Backing Tracks Time/size: 5 mins 59 secs/8.4mb. 168 beats per minute/bpm Rock backing track: An up tempo surf-rock kind of feel. Backing track instruments: electric guitar, electric with wah, fretless bass and drums. Progression: The chords used for this track are E, A and B which make it a I, IV, V progression in the key of E. The progression is: E, A, E, B, A, E, A. I'm using very simple chord shapes for the track. The main rhythm guitar part is using a barre chord shape with the root of each chord on the 5th (or A) as shown in the guitar tab below. The second rhythm guitar that has a bit of a wah effect on is playing 2 and 3 note chords to compliment the first guitar part.
Suggestions: This is a good progression to play an E minor pentatonic scale over. You can play the E minor pentatonic scale the whole way through and it'll sound good over these chords.
Don't try and play too fast just because it's an up-tempo tune. Let some notes sustain over the chords as they change so you can hear the difference in sounds that chord changes can make to a note that stays constant. Most importantly of all, have fun. Jam on! |
