The drum beat for The Dog and The Chooks is a Funk-Rock drum beat in 4/4 time. It has straight eighth notes on the hi hat and syncopated rhythms playing between the bass and snare which lock in with the rhythm guitar and the bass.

Play the snare drum really tight. Hit it hard and right on the beat and in-between the beat on the syncopated rhythms. Make sure you keep the power on the second (double) stroke played with the right hand on the 4th beat of the 2nd and 4th bars.

I've added a couple of points about rests at the base of the chart, stating that by adding a dot after a note or rest, it increases the value of the note/rest by half it's original value.

For example if you add a dot to a note that goes for one beat it will extend the value of the note by another half a beat, making the note value one and half beats.

Most of the time you see the dots appear next to rests when looking at drum charts. You can pretty much ignore the rests; they are just there to tell you not to play anything.

Make sure that you play this with some power.
